Infant Care Kits
ARO REQUESTS INFANT CARE SUPPLIES
ARO collects baby-care supplies to distribute to Afghan hospitals to assist mothers with the care of their newborns. We need your help!
In April 2004, after ARO relief team volunteers toured hospitals in Kabul—and the small clinics and health providers in rural areas—we noted a severe lack of baby care items. Many hospitals were without the simple essentials, including blankets for swaddling newborns. In some cases, newborns were wrapped in newspaper for warmth .
No new life should be greeted by such a harsh reality. No mother should be without the few basic items needed to keep her newborn warm, clean and healthy. We would like these babies to go home with a fresh diaper and the warmth of a soft blanket.
ARO assembles Infant Care Kits in two-gallon-sized “Ziploc” bags, which maintain the kit’s cleanliness and enable easy shipping / distribution. Each Infant Care Kit will contain: a receiving blanket, a cloth diaper, diaper pins, baby soap, socks and/or booties.
Please donate: Baby blankets, cloth diapers, diaper pins, baby soap (bar soap), socks, booties, baby caps, newborn clothing, or “onesies”.
We will buy baby care items with your financial donation: Please make a financial donation to ARO for this project and we’ll do the work! Make sure you write “Infant Care Kit” on the subject line of your check, and include your return address if you would like a receipt mailed to you for tax purposes.
If you have a large supply of items to donate, have any questions, or would like to discuss your donation with an ARO project leader, please email Sonali at sonali.fiske@gmail.com, or use the “Contact Us” feature on this website
