School Supplies
ARO provides basic supplies to Afghanistan’s girls and boys, starting with their return to school in March 2002. Some students were attending school for the first time.
ARO held successful collections for school supplies starting in early 2002 to assist with the return of students to remaining schools, tent schools and village centers. This remains an ongoing project for ARO, as we further "peace through education" efforts.
ARO now requests financial donations to facilitate the purchase of books, paper, pens, pencils, scissors, rulers, crayons, solar calculators, and all other basic school supplies. Monetary donations can be made out to “Afghanistan Relief Organization School Supplies Project”. The current lack of free warehouse space constrains ARO from collecting supplies, however, we can now purchase more in the region and support the local economy.
Previously, ARO stored, sorted and packed all our supplies at a warehouse in the City of Anaheim, California, graciously donated by Kaiser Permanente. Before that--in early 2002 through mid 2002--ARO was provided storage in the City of Yorba Linda, California, through the generosity of the late Mr. Gary Smith, owner of the Instorage self storage company.
Warehouse space needed
ARO is seeking free warehouse space in the Southern California area to facilitate future relief and school supply collections.
ARO uses humanitarian air cargo and free military airlift programs to deliver supplies to Afghanistan. Without these contributions, the ARO school supplies effort would be impossible.
Please contact ARO, using the “Contact Us” feature on this website, if you would like more information or would like to donate to the school supplies project.
