ARO Delivers Clothing and Plans Learning Center
On May 15, 2002, the ARO delivered the contents of a 40-foot cargo container—including approximately $150,000.00 (US) worth of clothing—to the residents of the Shaheedan village in the Bamian province of Afghanistan. Local and national charities, individuals, and members of the Afghan American community provided the donations. On this trip, the ARO also delivered new clothes and school uniforms to 150 children at the Alwafa Orphanage House in Kabul.
Also in Kabul, the ARO is laying the groundwork to establish a learning center, with courses in English and computer skills. Materials and equipment already are being collected for this effort, along with skilled professionals who will offer instruction. Additional donations and financial assistance are needed to fulfill this project, one of many that will help build a future for Afghanistan.
